I was all for the Arab Spring, the revolution of our times. Can't think of single state where it turned out well though?

Meanwhile.....

"(CNN)Several people have been arrested in Iran over the downing of a Ukrainian passenger plane as Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned that those responsible would be punished.

Gholamhossein Esmaili, the spokesman for Iran's judiciary, was quoted by the semi-official FARS news agency Tuesday as saying that an investigation into the crash had started and several arrests had been made. He did not provide details on how many people had been arrested or what their roles in the incident may have been.

Speaking in Tehran on Tuesday, Rouhani called for the punishment of those behind the downing of Ukraine International Airlines flight 752."

I think Tunisia now enjoys Democracy. Not sure on the overall state of the country though.

So Iranian leadership is making out their Republican Guard has some criminal splinter group who will be punished, rather than refer to them as highly skilled paid employees...

Gotta throw someone under the bus to save themselves. Classic.

The Sunni minority should be given a chance at governing now. How much worse could it be?

The cat is out of the bag.

You can't keep the Arabs and Iranians totally ignorant about their lack of basic freedoms and the rest of the world and thanks to technology and social media.

I don't think Iran and their proxies can continue murdering thousands of protesters in Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria.

Something is going to have to give. Hopefully the Mullahs will do the right thing and stop murdering their people.

They usually throw the Jews and the Big Satan under the bus for their failures.

Surely you can't be that naive.

That was my stance on the whole Arab Spring thing, still is really, but was pretty crap and still is in parts. I reckon it will take a generation or so for it to reach fruition proper.

Probably two generations. Iran might do a bit better since they have a more educated populace and a relative recent history of a more normal life.

Iran has a more uniform population - so they don't have to worry about their Arab neighbors trying to gin up sectarian divisions like Iran has been doing to the Arab nations over the last 10 years.

I'm lead to believe Saudi Arabia's younger generations are similar, but we gotta wait for the old fucks to die out.

I think it is something like 80% of Iran's population is under the age of 30. I bet the women will lead the revolution. Some of the most beautiful women on the planet.

Saudi Arabia has a long way to go.

We just kicked out a bunch of Saudi pilot trainees after the terrorist attack in Florida last month and found a bunch of child and jihadi porn on their computers.

Barcelona can probably help you.

Jihadi porn is typically snuff films of them cutting heads off bound captives and burning people alive in cages.

Yet you continue to insist that they are your allies, united against those evil Iranians who almost never do anything criminal/bad when they emigrate.

When have I ever said this?

I know full well that Saudi Arabia is filled with Islamist pederasts. That said, the ruling Monarchy (and certainly the new King) is not out in the streets overtly calling for the "Death of America", hosting Holocaust denial symposiums, hijacking oil tankers, shooting down US drones, building nukes and openly arming extremists to kill Americans and Israelis.

In summary:

- Saudi Arabia's Monarchy > Iran's Mullahs
- Iranian people > Saudi people

So as long as it's covert and not overt it's OK? And by "you" I really mean the typical conservative mindset in the US (and the current regime).

I see all kinds of memes now coming from the US about how huge a threat Iran is -- all the product of brainwashing.

Yemenis might have a different view.

I am unaware of any covert (or overt) actions by the Saudi government to target America or Israel. I am sure there are still private Saudis funding terrorism - but we can at least work with the formal government to try and tamp down on the crazies.

Whereas the formal government of Iran is openly hostile and technically at war with the US.

Speaking of brainwashing, I see that Prime Minister Black Face is basically blaming Trump for Iranians shooting down the Ukrainian airliner.

Iran are on the other side of the proxy war.

Keep up!

Quote:

“I think if there were no tensions, if there was no escalation recently in the region, those Canadians would be right now home with their families,” Trudeau told Global News television.

“This is something that happens when you have conflict and war. Innocents bear the brunt of it and it is a reminder why all of us need to work so hard on de-escalation, moving forward to reduce tensions and find a pathway that doesn’t involve further conflict and killing,” Trudeau continued, appearing to reference Trump’s order of a drone strike that killed Revolutionary Guard Gen. Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad on Jan. 2.

How is he wrong? This is exactly what every reasonable person on the planet thinks.

Of course when you start blowing up shit, civilians will die senselessly.

Although if we take your approach and blame shitty Russian technology, maybe we can keep the military gravy train going with fewer mistakes. Iranians should be buying all their stuff from Oliver North!
