3x for first victories this weekend! I also might have to bust out my Hellcat for some bonus cash.

Still have my Panzerjager IV. Guess I'll play the crap out of it before I trade it in for a Panther II.

If you get the Panther II, be prepared for hours of disappointment and frustration. The thing is a critical hit magnet and barely breaks even on money.

The whole panther line seems over-tiered.

The stock Panther doesn't belong in T7, not by a long shot. My Tiger can eat one for breakfast, along with every other T7, with the possible exception of the T-43, which is also garbage. The Panther II, well it's barely a T7, certainly not a T8, it's no match for what else in that tier.

But then most German tanks seem over-tiered, they give them fictional end guns that they never had, and bump them up a tier higher than their should be because of that.

Their TDs are pretty good, save the Jagpdpanzer, due to how unhistorically weak the 88 L/56 is (seriously, go check out armour penetration values done by the US, and USSR post-war, and the in-game stats are a good 30mm weaker penetration)

But that's a problem with most of the weapons; they use the nation of origin's test results, and each nation used different kinds of steel to test their guns against. US steel was the softest, and easiest to penetrate, so US guns have higher than historic penetration capacities, Germans used extremely hard steel, so all their guns have lower than accurate penetration, and the Russians used a middle ground, so they're more or less accurate. This also affects durability; 100mm of German steel could step shells somewhat better than the same value of Russian, and a lot better than US armour, but almost every German tank in-game is a glass water pistol.

QFT.

It is almost a miracle if my Panther II survives a battle.

The only German tank I have that can really hold its own in the Pz III/IV.

I haven't played any of them except for 3 low tier TDs, but I know I absolutely do NOT fear German tanks in game. That's how I know I never want to play them. Even if I'm out-tiered (except for the nines and tens), I don't shy away from taking them on. The Panther and Tiger are so delightfully easy to pen, I almost drool when I see them. The Tiger P at least makes me wary of shooting him in the face, but a Henschel Tiger is just so fucking easy to put metal through. Vertical surfaces and super squishy weak spots (commander view port, bam bam bam) must make for a life of rage if you're the one driving.

Yep. It's certainly not unusual for the first hit I take to cause critical damage. Usually a dead driver or a damaged ammo rack.

Yesterday a Type 59 hit my Panther II with one round and killed everyone except the commander, blew off a track, damaged my gun and my ammo rack. Annoying to say the least.

It really is annoying when you consider that historically a Panther could fully pen a Sherman at 2000m, WAYYYY before a Sherman could get close enough to do the same.

I played the german line upto the Maus/E-100 on the heavies. I honestly loved the Tiger, TigerP, VK4502P, Tiger2 and E-75. Amazing guns but they do teach you how to angle your armor and honestly I think it made me a better tanker for playing them. I went up the medium line to the Panther 2 but had no inclination to go for the E-50 due to the idiotic amount of module research required in comparison to other T9 mediums.

Oh, I certainly enjoy my German heavies, but they really are crit magnets. With a front facing gearbox, they constantly get immobilized or catch on fire, and it seems the ammo rack is wrapped all around the tank, as almost any pen will damage it, or the gun loader.

It's just frustrating that they're so poorly matched up against the other tank lines once you're out of the low-tiers.

I can't think of a reason why all the high tiers aren't one tier lower if you just axe their ahistoric top gun. A Tiger with a slightly buffed L/56 would be a solid Tier 6, rather than a very fragile sniper in T7, the Panther with its historic armaments, and perhaps some schurzen, would be entirely comparable to the T-34/85 and Easy Eight in T6, slightly more durable, but lower damage, similar pen.

But no, these, and other tanks, must be thrown against what are often tanks purpose built to destroy them, or postwar designs with the lessons of fighting them taken into account.

I finally got the 105mm for my T29. What a fucking difference. I got a Steel Wall from enemy rounds pinging off me noggin. Hull down in this thing is to be nearly invulnerable.

Lol yup the T29 is a favorite of mine, definitely keeping it. I was side scraping an E-75 the other day and killed him outright, while taking ZERO damage, aside from my tracks being beat up. I have found the US line much more fun after learning more about how tanks work.

In fact, I wish I could go back and do it all again from scratch. I mean when I first picked this game up, I had no idea how involved it really is. Being my first free-to-play game, I thought it would be just a fun time killer. But MAN, there is SO much more to it than I ever figured.

So many games I ran out (top tier) thinking I would pwn the scrub lower tiers only to be melting 2 mins into the game. Now I can be bottom tier and still do pretty well.

Also, M4 gold derp or T49 platoons are fucking epic.

That good game aside, I'm really struggling with the T29. I think I've won 12 out of 44 games in it. I understand that it's a hull-down tank and it's great at leading pushes because of the weak hull. However, I find that the 105 bounces more than any other gun I've used. I about lost my shit the other day when I put two shells into the side hull of a tracked M4 and both of them bounced. There was no angle, it was a straight-on shot. A gun with 198mm avg pen should not bounce off of 40mm of FLAT armor.

But that's just how things are going lately. My win rate is dropping like a rock. I was at 54% a few hundred games ago, now I'm sliding below 52%. I went through a stretch where I won 2 out of 27 games.

Finally researched a tier 9, now I've gotta fund the fuckin thing. I've got about 800k of the 3.4 million cred sticker price. I'll be running the hell out of my premium tanks this week to fatten my balance.

I dunno if anyone who still visits this forum is playing this game anymore, but I can finally say I have a tier X tank.

I just decided to take the plunge and start to the grind for the T-62A; I've been avoiding the T-43 for, quite literally, more than year, and figured I should get around to it. I've had the T-34/85 since maybe 2 months after the game's final release, and have been ignoring this ever since.

Not quite as painful as I expected, but not pleasant either.

I have to restart that grind. I loved the 34-85 and the T-43. I've been stuck on the T-44 for months. It's just been parked in my garage about halfway through to the T-54 because I hate it so much.

Are there ever sales on gold coin items? Extra garage slots, crew bunks, camo?

Dunno. I haven't been able to play in a while. I get a W7 BSOD when my tank is destroyed since 8.5. New video card is on the way and hopefully that solves the problem.

Bump.

War Thunder anyone?

started getting into it. Air combat seems simple enough. I've almost gotten the american kittyhawk inlocked.

So far the only countries with tanks are Germany and Russia. Other countries to follow in the coming months i guess
