Battlefield 2 was the high water mark

You mean BF3. Everything after was a diminished product by comparison.

I enjoyed BF2 a lot, but I had the most fun with 1942. It's not the 'best' BF by a long stretch, and I would not enjoy playing it today, but at the time online multiplayer FPS was entirely new to me and I was playing with friends. Each subsequent BF was different and (usually) objectively better, but familiar, and people I know stopped playing them.

BF3 was garbage. I even built a new PC for it and the game was complete shit which crashed every 5 minutes.

Never played anything after BF3 except '42 which actually still is good.

Maybe you just need to practice more.

You could do that in Battlefield 3.

Couldn't find a server of my skill level last night, so it was about as enjoyable as being kicked in the nuts for two hours. A lack of familiarity with the maps is letting me down badly.

I did inadvertently kill someone with my defibrillators when trying to revive someone though, which made me chuckle.
