It's worse. It's "live service" which means it's full of microtransactions and if it doesn't sell many they don't put out anything.

Just like Gamblefront II. Perhaps worse since half of the features and maps promised are "post-launch content" aka cut and held ransom.

If that's the case I won't be buying it then. I don't care how good it is.

Nobody wants to hear your ciswhitemale privileged opinions anyway... they are worth nothing as you have zero lived experiences as a LGTBBQTGIF+ gamer of color.

War Stories in this game is disappointing as fuck.

To quote a Reddit comment:

Quote:
When you turn your historical war game franchise into a modern-era diversity circus and even Polygon doesn't like it, you know you done fucked up.

And they had to go the BUT MUH RACISM route with the Tirailleur chapter as opposed to making the characters real people doing real things or a close enough equivalent.

Anyone still playing it?

It wasn’t that bad, it just didn’t do it for me because planes should have runways.

It was a cracking game. It had lots of very good ideas. But then they do what they always do and split the community with expensive expansion packs far too early. It kills servers. Even in the later stages of BF4 you'd be on a thriving server, it'd launch an expansion pack map and half the players would drop out. Which was a shame cos some of the BF4 expansion maps were among the best maps in the entire series. They're no good if no one is playing em though.

It was like that for every bf game.. If a new expansion map was loaded then yes a few peeps would not load up.

‘42 wasn’t too bad for that, maybe a bit for Road to Rome but most people didn’t bother with Secret Weapons or whatever the hell it was called. Which reminds me, I should fire up that game again soon with beer.

Yeah that works until the server you're on that was running a normal map loads up an expansion map and you didn't know that it was gonna do that.

If the server title doesnt give it away then the map listing surely does!

C'mon guys do I really have to think of everything?

Yep! I dial a number, tyre gets changed. I'm happy and I'm putting work into the economy. Not like you selfish fucks who do it themselves and deny hard-working people a living. Bastards.

It's out. It's shite.

Not playing because it's a glitchy broken mess with barely any content and what content there is is horribly broken or badly designed COD fests.

Tanks are useless, bombers are OP, Assault class ONCE AGAIN has no meaningful weakness, can't see shit for enemies, Grand Operations is a letdown and everything promised is held hostage for cosmetics microtransactions and "live service" model drip feeding. (You can't even change the friggin paint job on a tank FFS!)

It's no wonder the game is flopping hard in sales compared to month old games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or COD Black Ops 4.

The only other game sucking this bad right now is Fallout 76.

Why would anyone make a game with planes in it and not have runways?

Reviews are NOT good. Some severe balancing issues and it's buggy as hell. I hear they're heavily discounting it already. Which is a very poor sign indeed.

I'm still vaguely interested in it but probs won't bother. Which is a shame, I should have been hyped for a return to WWII. But for some reason every gameplay vid has left me kinda meh.

Because apparently defending your base from base campers is "too difficult".

I remember driving back base campers plenty of times (and winning the match too!) in BF3. I didn't need no lousy spawn in mid-air crap to do that.

There is apparently ONE airfield with runway in BFV, on ONE flag of ONE map and it spawns ONE lousy plane that doesn't exist until you spawn from it in the spawn screen.

It's nothing compared to capturing the airfield on Wake Island in BF3 or earlier where you can now control 4 planes instead of 2.

The #1 thing that went wrong with the BF series (and is most obvious in this latest one) is they blew almost all their development effort into copying elements from other games like CoD and Fartnite and tossed out what made the game special in the first place.

Who wouldn’t have been happy with basically a remake of BF1942 with the latest graphics tech? Fuck the twitch kiddie shit, squads, medals, trophies, all the other stupid pointless garbage... just try to recapture the magic of the original game which had FUCKING RUNWAYS. And carriers. And long swims to shore after being shot down. And endless fun.

But they didn’t listen to me, because clearly what people really want is a CoD clone with pink hair and shit. Just look at the staggering sales! It’s everyone’s Battlefield!
