Looks good. Anyone got it? Is it as good as the gaming press are saying it is?

Got it free with my 970. Most settings high or ultra but not the fancy hair tech that eats 20fps. Combat felt a bit clunky but I did have vsync on at that time.

I never really got far in TW and never played TW2. So lore/story wise I don't know much.

Will post more with screens this evening.

I got it, game is great. So far 10-11 hours into it.

If you love RPG's that are not turnbased(ugh), more like Skyrim, then I think you will also love this game.

I played W2 so I'm used to the mechanics. W3's graphics are real nice on Ultra http://i.imgur.com/vkGfqtj.jpg
...(except some of the shrubbery).

Still, I don't think its optimized. It gives me an average of 45-55 fps with an occasional 40 dip on my GTX 980 SC.

The monsters and fights are epic, Griffins, cyclop giants, mermaids and the list goes on. Especially with that creepy "moose" monster with that flowing hair. Pretty awesome.

The skin and face movements almost rivals L.A. Noire's facial movement. The character's skin tone is very defining. The writing is done right and side quests are as entertaining as the main quests.(Sorry Skyrim)
Take in mind the game doesn't hold you by the hand as others do.

I give it a 4.5 out of 5. ... So far my GOTY.

That's good to hear. There's something about this game (other than the stellar reviews) which is going "Buy me....Buy me...."

So I part exchanged a couple of games and got this at the weekend. I've only played it for a few hours but I'm enjoying it. Crafting and creating potions looks kinda heavyweight so I need to find a guide to this.

Potions are pretty straightforward. For most of them once you mixed a batch, all you have to do is mediate to get more.

Crafting isn't much different just Need more ingredients and can't build it yourself. Gotta take it to a crafter.

I got this game several years ago, gave it a few hours and got hopelessly lost with all the potions and shit. Part exchanged it, but then bought it again a year later, played for a few more hours before getting hopelessly lost with all the potions and shit. Part exchanged it.

It’s now a few quid in the sales. Worth giving it another go and sticking at it for moar hours to get the hang of it? I feel like I’m missing out on something special.

The bears made me quit. Every time I tried to explore a new place I’d get beared.

Maybe I just don’t have the patience or free time to spend picking flowers and making stupid potions and shit.

...gives you a better sense of where you are in the environment and facilitates a greater range of movement and strategy. Aside from Mirrors Edge (to an extent) no FPS first person game has really attempted to emulate it.

Fuck sake slacks you're not even a n00b. You're an inveterate suck ass at games that involve any kind of cut and thrust. The only truth you are twisting is within you.

Never understood why you’d want your character blocking your view as you try to kill stuff.

Yes, I suck at games. It takes me three times longer than most to finish them.

First and third person games have their place.

Normally an FPS has a gun to the side blocking that part of the screen anyway, which is where third person games normally put your character.

Fighting games are in the centre, but the third person view facilitates a lot more depth to the combat.

I played a bit of The Division, I thought the 3rd person thing worked well for choosing cover and situational awareness. Still much prefer first though.

Witcher3 is one of the few games I have played through to completion in recent years. I tire of pretty much everything within a few hours. W3 kept me entertained throughout however. Finished both expansions as well.

As for the potions and shit... real men don't take potions. I never bothered. I did spend an inordinate amount of time amassing the most astonishing arsenal of swords however. And badass armour.

Aha, Spandex makes his annual appearance!

Anyway, asked for this for Christmas and will give it a play of more than a few hours this time.

Stick with it mate. When you've played long enough to give a shit about the characters it really shines. Triss or Yennefer is one of the greatest quandaries of our time

Go team Triss! B}-:)
