Blackberry Phones Could Be Dead As Manufacturer Says It Will Stop Sales.

I never had a Blackberry.

Even when I rolled them out, I never opted for one myself. Just couldn't see me typing (what I type...) on a piddly-little keyboard.

But I do still feel a bit of a pang at the news of BB's demise.

I think possibly because of the way it was so mercilessly crushed underfoot by Apple and Android's (clearly) superior offerings.

:(

I'm surprised they were still selling phones for this long tbh. Still, they've carved a reasonable place for themselves in the software and cyber-security space.

I'm still unsure whether I prefer a physical keyboard.

Distracted driving became a much more serious issue once we switched to touch displaying. Texting/email/talking on the while driving wasn't near as bad when we used tactile keys on phones.

Other than that...touch screens are way better.

Me too.

I had 3 Blackberries through work with the last one being the "Bold" which was pretty thin with a nice color screen and good keyboard.

Was very happy when our IT group allowed iPhones several years ago.

This is work.

Manly work.

Sitting around talking about The Way Things Were.

Whole societies have been built on this kind of work.

Goddammit!

Mandela Effect: The Thread.

I thought these were dead long ago. As in they were old hat when Obama first came into office.

I've just realised:

Blackberry Corporation a.k.a. "BBC"

British Broadcasting Corporation... a.k.a.... "BBC"!!!!!

I'll bet anyone with a big black cock is feeling quite nervous about now!

No it definitely didn't have that.

Plus if you use it for anything but strictly work someone might be keeping tabs on that

I remember driving through then RIM (Research In Motion) campus in Kitchener back in the hey days of Blackberry. It looked like what I picture the Apple campus was in the early 80's. Tons of young talent moving around with purpose. We used a special version with encryption made in house there for years and I can honestly say I still prefer the little tactile keyboard over touchscreens (considering you could use them with gloves on which is a consideration in our climate).
