Singapore bank evacuated as employee falls ill with Kung Flu while on the job.

Almost 200 infections in Japan counting all the folks on that cruise ship in Yokohama.

I wonder how long it will be before someone weaponises this?

"Hand over all your money! Or I'll cough on you! I have the Coronavirus you know!!"

Probably already happened...

This load-of-old-bollocks has even infected the banks...

The Team I'm with at RBC is now working feverishly ( B-) ) to enable 100% of the banks European workforce to work-from-home...

I WFH 2-3 days a week in any case... But if the office (and City) is going to be empty... I'd rather work there!

My company can't ship any new hardware this month because our modem manufacturer in China is shut down because of the outbreak. We will likely miss our Q1 forecast because of this.

Who would have thought that there is actually some downside outsourcing stuff to places with cheap labor and lax environmental and health regulations?

It has been a bad 18 months for China between the Virus exposing the limit of China's authoritarian control, Hong Kong uprising and the trade wars.

Local surgeries are pinging people's phones with advice especially those who have been in contact with anyone who has been abroad in the last 14 days. I was being accosted by an Arab with a cobra in Africa last fucking week! And here I am crippled in bed, just not with flu type symptoms.

Social media is kicking off, naturally...

Just been advised to get to a doc within 12 hours but avoid the hospital. A doc may come to me, but as you can imagine they are hella busy.

If I had anything remotely flu like I'd consider myself very high risk. Ive just been through all kinds of screening questions and i tick lots of boxes. Spent the day with a couple from Hong Kong whilst away, and as you can imagine pretty much everyone in the hotel and tourist areas are from overseas. "Have you been in contact with bats or snakes?" "How so?" Ummm, some Arab hustler but a snake next to my face in Africa whilst i was doing a tour with these nice HK people. "We are going to put you on to a senior clinician....."

China had a record day yesterday with 15,000 new cases and 250 more deads!

This is a massive jump. Have patience guys; in another month we’ll all be fucked.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said a second patient in San Diego, California, has tested positive for coronavirus, according to CNBC.

Earlier in the week another patient in San Diego who had been evacuated from Wuhan tested positive.

No worries.

San Diego is on it.

Quote:

San Diego lab discovers coronavirus vaccine in 3 hours

Inovio Pharmaceuticals created a vaccine that is going through pre-clinical trials.

SAN DIEGO — In a race against the clock, a San Diego lab is scrambling to get a COVID-19 vaccine out and on the market. As the days go by, Inovio Pharmaceuticals is getting closer to releasing the desperately needed vaccine against the deadly virus.

Inovio Pharmaceuticals, which is located in Sorrento Valley, has also created a vaccine for the Zika virus, the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), and the vaccine for Ebola.

Dr. Trevor Smith, who is the director of research and development at Inovio, said, "It's something we are trained to do, and the infrastructure is here and the expertise is in house."

When Chinese scientists released the genetic sequence on Jan. 9, Inovio researchers got to work immediately and within 3 hours they had a vaccine for coronavirus, or COVID-19 as it is now being referred to.

"We have an algorithm which we designed, and we put the DNA sequence into our algorithm and came up with the vaccine in that short amount of time," said Dr. Smith.

Tens of thousands in China have been quarantined and continue to suffer from the virus. That’s why scientists at Inovio Pharmaceuticals say they feel the sense of urgency to get the vaccine out.

The vaccine has been tested on mice and guinea pigs. It will next be tried on a group of human patients.

Scientists hope the vaccine will work like a piece of biological software. In other words, the vaccine will give the human body instructions to create the proper attack in the form of T-cells and antibodies against COVID-19.

If all goes as planned, the vaccine could be made available to the public by early this summer - which would be a record time frame for Inovio Pharmaceuticals.

Currently, an Inovio Pharmaceuticals lead researcher is in Sweden meeting with the World Health Organization to come up with the best plan of attack against COVID-19.

Once this is over, I hope they round up all the surviving skeptics and deniers and charge them with genocide.

Japan marks first of what will be hundreds of thousands of deaths:

If you’re following this shit, you know that Japan is the next country to get decimated by this virus. But we will only be a few weeks behind them.

Hope all the Sony bastards get it.

FUCK!!!!! I bought my tickets too soon!!! Prices could fall even lower!

Hopefully I get quarantined on the way back and don't have to work for a few extra weeks...in the summer. That would be awesome.

Or, you could get there and then be immediately whisked off to a special holding facility where you can’t leave and there’s nothing to do but watch Naruto all day.
