Most effective way to achieve that is just to encourage people to cut down on their meat intake.Totally agree.
Any Absolutist approach will always be rejected.
This thinking needs to be applied to the Climate Change advocates too.
Something the young Gretas of the world should consider as they scold the rest of us to magically totally divest from carbon energy in 10 years.
You know how you believe that the Muslamics are an existential threat to the American Way of Life?
And you know how when you try and substantiate your fears, with all sorts of selective evidence and hysterical assertions, how most people just laugh at you?
Well, the way that makes you feel, is the way Climate Change activists feel when people laugh at them and dismiss their concerns.
The parallel is exact.
Forget what you understand/believe about the Climate and its future prospects, just consider what they believe. That the World is coming to an end, and nobody is doing anything about it.
Imagine if you believed as strongly in the Muslamicalypse as Greta believes Humanity is facing a Climate Apocalypse.
And now imagine that despite everything you and a small number of committed activists have to say about the Islamic threat, that politicians and business leaders just ignored you, and did nothing to address the Muslamic threat. That in fact, they observably do things to increase the threat of Islamist violence.
How would you feel?
And how would you try and persuade others of your beliefs, when those others just dismiss your concerns out of hand?
Would you do it patiently, tolerantly, with humility? Would you try and persuade on the basis that you might be wrong, but think you are probably right? Always open to the possibility that you could learn something from those who do not see the “Islamic Threat” in the same panic-inducing way that you do?
This isn’t about whether the Climate Change Activists or Islamophobes are “right” to be afraid.
This is about why some people who think the Sky is Falling and nobody else sees the danger, talk in such absolutist, almost panic-stricken ways.
It’s worth bearing in mind when you’re trying to figure out why a 17-year old Climate Activist is talking as fiercely as you talk about the threat posed to Humanity by Muslims (in general).
In my Experience, if I feel somebody needs to cut me some slack, I try cutting them some slack first.
