Try paddling out in big surf. You UNDERSTAND the power, beauty and destructive abilities of nature very quickly.

Same thing with being on top of a huge mountain, or sunk almost neck deep in snow in dense forest in the valley below or getting rolled down the side of a canyon after taking a rock the size of your head to your face. Nature is neither a weakling nor defenseless nor something ho hum.

Might I suggest you start fighting for Nature then, instead of against Her.

You know... Given what you Understand about Her abilities, and all.

No, no.

You consider a healthy Economy to be more important than a healthy Environment.

That means you are currently fighting for men, and against Nature.

Sorry.

:-??

Man is part of nature.

BTW - if you have a shitty economy, you are going to have a shitty environment too. Not enough time and money to spend on nice things like cleaning up after ourselves.

The 80 most polluting rivers in the world...dumping millions of tons of plastic into the ocean...are coming from rivers located in countries with horrible economies. You could make an argument that caring more for the economy than the environment is better for the environment.

People struggling to feed their kids don't have the luxury of caring about whether or not fish are eating micro plastic.

I was at the aquarium of the Pacific checking out a really cool new addition they put on it.

While there I noticed however, both the new theater and the pre-show in a couple displays talked about the challenges we'd face in 2100 with the massive population increase in how we need 40 times the food to feed them or whatever number they quoted.

:-? Which made me think this is The complete opposite of what Foota and the UN are telling me, I've been assured by both, that by 2090, the population will have come back to current day levels and be dropping significantly.

Who to believe? :(

Human population will stabilize with modernity and the eradication of religion.

Eradication of poverty and decent healthcare help stabilise or reduce population, so it really depends on how good we're gonna be as a race at getting our shit together.

I already said we need to quit fighting but no one ever wants to listen... I would love spending my days cleaning up the oceans, rivers and lakes... I think it would be a lovely and a helpful cause. If we are being honest, everyone should do their part, as much as possible. I always have, not saying I am perfect... just try not to throw shit out of the car tbh... Still, every little bit helps and if I had the time... if any of us did, I am sure we would enjoy cleaning up the planet with one another... Op goals... village of helpfully, yet totally awesome people...With a strip club and a chapel... :-??

I already do that of sorts. Every time I set out in the wilds of Colorado be they mountains, prairies or otherwise I always end up taking out more trash than I brought with me.

Try not to bring any trash with you either.

Then you'll really be ahead of the Curve.

Scientists try turning nuclear waste into near-infinite diamond batteries:

https://www.popularmechanics.com/scienc ... d-battery/

If they pulled it off that would surely be the tipping point of using nuclear for our power needs while we transition to renewables?

I'm sure something like that will come along, if we wait long enough.

Was giving someone tips on how to prepare for vegetarianism the other day.

Main point being, "To not make the Perfect the enemy of the Good."

I.e. just because you can't envision ever not eating meat entirely, doesn't mean you can't reduce the amount of meat you eat (...or apparently inhale, in some people's cases!).

Can't see your self not eating meat at all?

No problem: can you see your self eating less meat than you currently do?

That's good enough! Go for it!!

The scale of the impact that humans' meat-consumption has on the Environment is so great, that it would be more effectively reduced by a large number of people reducing their meat-consumption by 50-75%, than it would by a small number of former-meat-eaters, managing to stick to what will be, as far as they are concerned, a forced Lifestyle change.

This is why Militant Vegans are wankers.

The main reason people don't want to consider Veganism, is because they fear their personalities will become objectionable.

Our Planet and species doesn't require us to all become vegans: it just requires that we stop farming so much meat in a way that is so damaging to our Environment.

Most effective way to achieve that is just to encourage people to cut down on their meat intake.

Any Absolutist approach will always be rejected.

>*^*<

Okay, a while back I read that the gases from over farming are horrific... Cattle especially, though I am definitely a meat eater I can understand, if this is the case, why people would want to reduce the amount of beef that they consume. We eat chicken mainly in our home but we all love a good steak, medium rare, up in here... My point, if people want to reduce their beef intake, for what ever reason, it also stays longer in your intestines, let them. We all have our thing, the only time it becomes a problem is when one decides to criminalize and belittle those around them to the point that anger and harming their fellow human being over topics such as this becomes the norm.
