I don’t think Tesla will be quite belly up by SG Inauguration, but I’m thinking there will be no Teslas on fire base Proxima. :-?

Teslas will already be on Mars.

Nice to see Tesla dragging another ICE car maker (BMW) into the 21st Century.

They’re not that expensive, considering they last at least 3 times as long as a Ford...

Nope, they'll be very good. As is everything German.

I thought you loved your Skytrain? Isn't that computer operated?

Have you never flown anywhere?

This shit is the future, unless some government moron screws it up with regulation. Think of how much more productive we could be each day if our cars could drive themselves for daily commutes? I'd personally gain about 1.5 hours of my day back which I could use for sleeping, entertainment or work if I could just kick back in my car and let it drive me to work and back.

Think of the reduction of drunk driving and people falling asleep accidents with autonomous driving. There are alot more upsides than downsides IMO.

Totally different. Roads are chaotic and unpredictable, with construction, cyclists in spandex, deer, potholes, busy intersections, merging lanes, idiots in F150's -- there is just no way a computer can properly account for all the variables in city driving.

Yeah - but a 16 year old chick can do better while texting and vaping?

Never seen that. It's usually gazing at oneself in the mirror, applying lipstick, etc.

You can only get your learner's at 16 here, then it's a full year before a 'Noob' license, then another two years I think before an actual Class 5 is issued.

Anyway it won't work. You'd really trust a computer to get you home in fog and rain in the dark?

I like driving, especially fast and torquey cars like my Bolt - so I wouldn't use the self driving feature much. But it would be nice to kick on when I am stuck in bumper to bumper freeway traffic.

There are millions of people in California alone that have horrendous 2+ hour commutes inching along on crowded freeways. Their lives would be substantially better if they could spend those 2 hours commuting doing something else other than simply piloting a car.

The technology is only going to get better and better.

No doubt it's coming but I think it's still quite a ways away. It will need to be a very gradual shift...maybe over the next 20 years.

Twenty years? Maybe for some automakers, but Tesla has it now. Granted, I suspect some nanny state governments might ban this technology for a while, but even the Commies running California are pretty keen on the technology and are not putting up unnecessary roadblocks and regulations.

The parking lot summon feature is pretty cool too.

Super decadent and gay. Now people don't want to walk 50 feet to their car?

If I see that IRL I'll smack the guy hard.

It's a gimmick that will enthrall the gays.

I think it is pretty impressive that it can even navigate in a parking lot without obvious lane markings. My Chevy Bolt has lane assist, but it needs the camera to clearly see the painted lines to work.

This is a nice feature if it is raining or you have a ton of shit to load up. Also nice feature if you are a chick and don't want to walk alone in a dark parking lot to get their car.

It'll be an especially nice feature when it fucks up and drives away and you never see it again.

I'm not a big fan of packing technology in cars and trucks
It's outdated too quickly
Simple is best and I don't fuck with the vehicle
I may trade out shocks or tires but I keep it factory spec
I don't need a computer to help me drive on ice or stay in my lane
I'd rather spend the money on 4x4 and a Garmin than a sunroof and dual climate control

I will admit the backup camera is nice when I need to hook up a trailer
