Tesla burns in crash, killing driver and 'keeps catching fire' at tow yard

It's like one of those joke birthday candles that you can't blow out.

Meanwhile - another 110 Americans were killed in car crashes that very same day (presumably driving ICE cars).

We have about 40,000 auto fatalities a year.

Well it's gonna get a whole lot worse if more people buy these wheeled Roman candles.

I would think about as dangerous as sitting on 20 gallons of flammable fuel and oil.

Tesla just bought Maxwell Battery in San Diego. Will be interesting if Tesla can use their dry cell formula and start putting super-capacitors into their cars.

A super-capacitor would be bitchin' as you would have a dedicated reserve for short bursts of acceleration that could also recapture a ton of the kinetic energy with regen-braking. This will allow the EV automakers to reduce the size (and costs) of their batteries if they could set aside a 1 kWh super-capacitor to handle heavy acceleration and braking.

And people say it's guns that are the biggest most bad thing that kill people. Fun fact, most gun homicide victims in the US are suicides.

In Colorado you could count on your hands the number of "mass shooting" victims in all of 2018 which was a big fat zero. Meanwhile we had about 650 automobile fatalities from all sources over the same time frame. Almost two people per day. In a state of about 7 million people in total.

Diesel fuel is incredibly hard to catch fire. As in you can throw a lit match into a tank of diesel and it won't do shit to it.

How do I count zero on my hands? Make fists and look at them?

Either that or curl your fingers together into the shape of a zero. Kinda like doing a telescope with your hands.

Musk just delivered on his much touted and promised $35K Tesla!

And this is somehow seen as a bad thing?

That is nearly $7K cheaper than my Chevy Bolt - and I *KNOW* the lowest level base model Tesla Model 3 is lightyears better than my Chevy Bolt. Now I wish I was able to wait the extra 2 months to get a Tesla.

Who needs expensive brick and mortar stores when Tesla is already beating the shit out of all of the major automakers selling EV cars on the internet? No one is even remotely close and Tesla continues to raise the bar and putting pressure on everyone else to catch up and reduce costs.

A Hyundai Kona EV pulled up next to me at the post office this morning. This is the first one I have seen in the wild. I definitely like Kona's looks and interior better than the Bolt, but reviews are suggesting it doesn't have as aggressive regenerative braking as the Bolt and no battery heater.

The real killer with these things is the charge time when you're on the road. Who wants to stand around in some shithole town for hours every time they need to fill up? It does not make for a very enjoyable cross-country trip.

They are still not ideal for cross country trips. But the battery tech and chargers are getting better and better. The DCFS fast chargers can give the bolt nearly 200 miles of range in 1 hour of charging. The Tesla can get half the battery charged in 20 minutes.

I believe about 98% of Americans drive less than 50 miles a day for their normal routine/commute. So it works perfectly for people like me that drive over 1,000 miles a month and just top off the battery at home every 2 to 3 days.

Oh yeah it's way better for city commuting. But many people can only afford one car and they want something that will do it all - that will be the tipping point, when you can charge it in 5 minutes.

Enhanced battery pack. Fuck yeah.

500km in a charge and I’m in. And the charge can’t take longer than 10 minutes.

You cannot make a car without 300 mile range and expect it to be taken seriously as Wave of the Future. If you buy that and live in Denver for example, well you can forget basically going anywhere in Colorado, most ski resorts and mountain trails are 150 or more depending on which part of Denver you reference from.

And that assumes you're NOT stuck in traffic draining battery.

Oh yeah and most of the state doesn't EV infrastructure. It only recently came to Colorado Springs and Pueblo and even then it's very limited.

Tesla is shit
Poor quality and even worse quality control
Watch the prices keep dropping
I'd rather buy a used mini

Musk is praying he can dump it
