Here are all the ways that Tesla has gone from bad to worse

I may need to hire an assistant soon. It’s hard keeping up with all the bad news!

What they really said was "JP Morgan predicts Tesla shares will plunge more than NOT 40% before the end of the year."

I’m actually pretty excited about the electric car era upon which we are on the cusp upon... which.

Especially if it’s way cheaper than gas.

The only PITA thing I see is when you run out of charge and you have to stand around for like an hour filling up. Especially in some hick town with weird people hanging around and you just wanna get the fuck outta there.

But fuck the Middle East. Hope VW, Toyota, and Honda get some good options out there pronto.

Get ready for hydro rates to go through the roof...I think something like a third of energy used by humans comes from oil...so...what's going to pick up the slack? Can the grid handle it? When do you cycle things down for repair amd upgrade when everyone is charging their cars at night...even if they can solve the crazy charging times...imagine the hit on the grid when everyone gets home at 6 and plugs in...

Just like the folks switching on their kettles for tea and coffee during the adverts {commercials} in Murricun speak.

And this is why the wind and solar panels shite is unacceptable as a primary power source. Unreliable and low capacity, it can't be scaled for demand, use and distribution across a grid. Good supplemental source, but replace coal and oil outright that way? Nope.

Hydroelectric is pretty much already tapped to capacity in both the United States and Canada.

Nuclear on the other hand...with new reactor designs, new fuels in thorium which is quite abundant in the US, Canada and India (more than Russia or China could ever lay claim to), and continued research into nuclear fusion, the possibilities are wide open and the capacity is nowhere near tapped out. Plus, nuclear energy is greenhouse emissions free. At most it's steam that's emitted from nuclear.

You could power everybody having an electric-only car on a nuclear powered grid. Everybody.

Ain't much worse than an oil refinery blowing a sizable chunk of a city away if it catches fire and goes BLEVE.

Besides, the newest designs I'm talking about? Fast breeder and pebble bed nuclear reactors (which can also run on thorium instead of uranium) are inherently fail safe to meltdown compared to control rod reactors.

And put it this way, let's assume the religious fools in the climate change movement are absolutely right and we're headed for runaway greenhouse effect. A radiation release in an accident is infinitely preferable to the planet literally boiling alive.

The climate is changing, just like it always does. I however am not of the camp that believes humans are the primary and only cause and that nothing else could possibly be in play. Neither am I of the opinion that we should sacrifice everything we've ever done and live a draconian life of being cavemen held down by population control and technology limits so we may live in harmony with nature.

I believe we'll solve our problems through superior engineering, not environmentalism.

Superior engineering? Pray tell.

What's going to happen in the future when fossil fuels run out.?

You have to explore other alternatives.

When fossil fuels run out I fully expect we will have developed an alternative means. Portable nuclear power (fission or fusion), hydrogen fuel cells, whatever it takes.

Until there is a fast enough charging station to charge in a couple of minutes or there is a drive over wireless charging mechanism with perhaps a bit of solar charging mixed in, I think the easy solution to quick charging is to have standardized swappable battery stations. Stop, swap batteries, continue.
