Yup. I bought it when everyone else did...

Still haven't made it past the Introduction.

Meanwhile:

Stephen Hawking & Ken Dodd sitting in the same boat as it sculls across the River Styx...

Wouldn't mind being the Ferryman who gets to overhear that conversation.

What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places—and there are so many—where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction. And if we do act, in however small a way, we don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvellous victory." - Howard Zinn

Read brief history a while ago. First half was easy enough and enjoyable...last quarter was tough as fuck.

Victor Kalashnikov, son of famed inventor of the AK-47 Mikhail Kalashnikov has passed away at 75.

He himself was a bit of an accomplished designer for Izmash as well, designing the PP-19 Bizon submachinegun featured in several video games including Battlefield as well as several other designs some of which were adopted by police or special operations units.
