I sometimes wonder if we were living in different times, which of us would have wanted to keep slavery. It worked well for a lot of people.

I mean if you were living somewhere slavery was normal, and you weren’t black, and you could have slaves if you wanted, would you push for change?

No .. Really I'm not that much of a cunt even though some folks think I am.

Niggers be nigging but they should have the same rights as us crackers.

Yes. I never condone depriving anyone of their God-given rights and liberties. It's why last election in Colorado I voted in favor of a state constitutional amendment outlawing all forms and mentions of slavery and involuntary servitude. (Most uses were historical or referential, no actual slavery occurs here. The closest "equivalent" for want of a better term are chain gangs in the prisons.)

Holyman would totally have had slaves. He would treat them well but it’s true.

We call it Spanish style (adobe buildings, red clay tile roofs). But since the Muslims invaded and occupied a big chunk of Spain for alot of years, I suppose it can be considered Muslimy too.

My Grandfather (My Dad's father). I never met the man since he died before I was born, but I now recognize his features in alot of my uncles and cousins after staring at his face while drawing this picture.

This is my Grandmother (Dad's Mom). I think she was in her early teens in this photo.

Yep - I noticed that early on, but it would be too hard to correct erasing the black background trying to extend up the shirt. I need to get an easel instead of drawing on the flat dining room table to get better perspective.

Haven't commented much on this thread Foota, because I don't feel qualified regarding technique in non technical drawing...technique which I now think you have in spades.

So, I will, if I may, just gently suggest you go beyond the representational and try some emotionally subjective sketches. Not to mean abstract or even just impressionist, but just some sketches of what catches your eye and moves you. Play with composition and detail (or lack of it, within the composition) and see what comes out.

It's a vast ocean of promise and you now have a canoe and a workable pair of paddles... :D

I look forward to what floats your boat.

Thanks. I am running out of inspiration (and relatives) for my pencil drawings and definitely interested in getting into something new. I am thinking about getting the Apple pencil and the Procreate app to start playing around. Some of this stuff is amazing. I suppose you can say it is cheating a bit, but figure this would be a pretty cheap and easy way to get some practice in with other mediums.

There's no doubt some really good online art courses that would be fun to try too.
