A lot of that is because he has no diplomatic filter, so he ends up saying what a lot of people were already thinking. I don't think he has any special insights in that regard, he just doesn't dance the dance.

I would say that a reasonable number of 'facts' he puts forward are categorically false, but I don't think that's what you're referring to.

Wait, I meant to do that as a double non-sarcasm detector detector.

Ha! I literally just switched it off after trying to watch it for the first time in about 6 months, because it was aggravating.

It's the same tired old fucking arguments, over and over and over again. Fuck me.

I'm in a Conservative safe seat (Nicholas Soames, Churchill's grandson) so any vote is wasted, but as he's stepping down this year it leaves it slightly more vulnerable I guess?

I'll be able to vote at last, because John Bercow has resigned as Speaker.

Haven't looked at the Runners and Riders yet.

The canvassing has begun, it's Mrs. Junior's favour thing ever.

When those horrible anti-science god botherers from the DUP call round to the house MRs J always responds in the same way. "Are you going to change your stance on equal rights for gay people, yes or no?" If they say anything other than YES her immediate response is "Fuck Off Then" and closes the door in their face. God I love my wife :)

(note- she is the most caring & calm person ever, but ran out of patience on this shit years ago, it's become a game now.)

BBC apologises for using wrong Remembrance Sunday clip

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-50374630
https://metro.co.uk/2019/11/10/boris-cr ... -11073548/

Didn't realise this was why they did it. Interesting points from Another Angry Voice:

"When Jeremy Corbyn supposedly didn't bow deeply enough at the Cenotaph a few years ago the mainstream media absolutely howled with faux outrage about it.

But when Boris Johnson made an absolute tit of himself yesterday by stepping out of line too early, then laying the wreath upside down, there's barely been a whisper of criticism from the usual "poppy outrage" suspects, and the BBC even decided to spare Boris Johnson his blushes by digging up old footage of him laying a wreath in 2016 to broadcast in place of the shambolic scenes from yesterday .

It's not just that the media holds Corbyn to an infinitely higher standard than the leader of the Tories ever will be, that's to be expected since most of the UK media is owned by right-wing billionaires who despise Corbyn's policies aimed at giving more power to ordinary people, and making corporations and the mega-rich pay their fair share of tax.

The bias is so strong that the mainstream media don't just give the Tories an easier ride, they actively collude to help cover up their constant stream of blunders and gaffes.

Of course you can try to make out that the use of 2016 footage was some kind of innocent mistake on the BBC's part, but let's imagine it had been a dishevelled, apparently hungover Jeremy Corbyn making a total arse of himself at the Cenotaph yesterday.

The story of Corbyn's 'disrespect for the war dead' would have been splashed all over the front pages of the right-wing propaganda rags, and it would have been one of the leading stories in BBC news broadcasts and political shows.

Had it been Corbyn, the BBC simply couldn't have "accidentally" swapped out the embarrassing footage for scenes from another year, because everyone responsible for editing and broadcasting the footage would have known perfectly well that the shambolic conduct was to be one of the main news items of the day.

Even if you don't rate Corbyn as a politician at all, it's impossible to deny that if he'd turned up at the Cenotaph and made such a complete arse of himself yesterday, most of the UK press would be screeching outrage about it, and there's absolutely no way the BBC would have accidentally replaced the footage with less embarrassing scenes from a few years ago."

Murrican electoral interference in British politics omg

Quote:
It is "inexplicable and shameful" that the UK government has not yet published a report on alleged Russian interference in British politics, Hillary Clinton has told the BBC.

The report has formal security clearance, but it will not be released until after the 12 December election.

"Every person who votes in this country deserves to see that report before your election happens," the former US presidential candidate said.

Still butthurt I guess.

Some pretty eye opening policies coming from Labour thus far. Aside from the usual shitloads of billions being promised for public services, renationalising utilities etc., they're also offering free broadband for all by 2030 and a (sort-of) 4 day working week with no loss of pay.

:-?

I don't know many people who aren't concerned at the prospect of a Corbyn government. Polls suggest he won't win, but in a hung parliament Labour could team up with someone else to form a government. The SNP probably would in return for another Scottish independence referendum, God help us.

Has anyone had their voting card yet? When do we get them?

What are those?
You mean you don't let anyone from any country vote in your elections?
Wow
You have any idea how racist that is?

That would be like us not letting illegal aliens vote
Fucking nazis
