Raining yet again. Everything in my neck of the woods is vibrant green or turning into vibrant green. Half the mountain still has snow on it and the nearest creeks and rivers are running at an okayish rate. (One of them was bone dry three weeks ago.)

Summer is due in about two weeks. Usually around Mother's Day is when summer kicks off in the plains and foothills, it hits the mountains a couple weeks later around Memorial Day even though snow may stick around on them until June. When that happens it quickly goes from 20-28C (68-~82F) to north of 30C (86F) headed towards 35C (95F) by the end of the month. We're talking almost overnight quick.

Fortunately for May, it doesn't hit 100F (~38C) at any point in the month unless something has gone really weird. I can count on one hand the number of 100 degree days in May in the past 25 years.

Been doing similar today here. I have almost an inch of rain in my rain gauge out back and rumor has it this is going to continue until Friday and it'll turn to snow tomorrow with upwards of a foot for the nearby Wet Mountains.

We're going to end up with our entire month of May's worth of moisture in 3 days.

Last week we got almost 1.5 inches of rain over three days plus waking up to 1.5 inches of snow on Thursday.

This week summer is setting in. Scattered thunderstorms over the mountains and getting hot this week. Today is supposed to hit upwards of 30C (86F) at work in Pueblo, a couple degrees less at home.

I can already hear Bunny melting over the thought of that kind of heat.

We've had a good amount of rain this week which bodes well for a non-smoky summer, I hope.

It's May 21 and it is snowing. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? Global warming is a lie, it's never snowed this late in May in any of the past 26 years in Colorado, not this low of elevation. (6000 feet, ~1940 meters) And definitely not this far south.

I know some of the mountain towns and peaks can snow as late as June around my parts.

Wet and cool in SoCal. We got another half inch of rain over Sunday/Monday with a bit more rain forcasted this week. Probably the wettest May I have ever seen in San Diego.

I've heard that SoCal will be a rainforest by 2030.

It is the wind associated with the rain that fucks it all up making the surf too choppy and unsurfable. Which is exactly what happened yesterday. But I had a buddy driving up from La Mesa to watch the Indy 500 with me and some friends and he was dead set on surfing in the AM before the race. So we went out in the chop and got beat up to catch a couple shitty quality waves.

Spooky conditions with very few people out and a seal popped up right next to me and scared the shit out of me.
