Iput in a laundry set in my crude water-damaged dungeonlike cellar a while back, which prompted me to see what needed to be done to fix-er up...and yea it's bad, the actual foundation on my 100 yr old dump has lost large portions of it's mortar. So, I am learning the ways of the trowel and mix

Also, moar paint

Image

anyway, hopefully you guys are buying more interesting stuff

No pics, but I just bought a ton of shit. Here goes: Neighbors had a very brutal and nasty divorce. I guess they hired some auction company to come in a sell all the shit they couldn't agree on splitting. These people basically came in and moved what they could fit through the doors out into the front yard. They bundled some stuff up and started selling. I was bidder number 2. The first few items were some books, a couple of lamps and some more random crap on a desk. The starting bid went from 20 down to 5$ which made me throw my hand into the air. SOLD, to the boner there for 5$. The 4 Twilight books alone are worth twice that at least - after all, my mom is having a yard sale in a couple weeks and I just made a major score that could, with a little luck, make us a good bit of scratch.

My gf shows up 1/2 way through the auction and is giving me a hard time. It only got worse.

Her: "Look at this crap".
Me: "It all sold for 7.50$".
Her: "I wonder who pissed their money away at it"?
Me "You are standing next to that guy."
Her "What is he going to do with all that crap"? /looking off to her left
Me: "You mean what am I going to do with all these goodies"?

That went over like a fart in church and I got the stinkiest of stink eyes I have ever gotten from her. The rest of the day went like that or simply got worse...Great. It wasn't until we got home and she started digging though the boxes the she kinda started getting warmed up to it. Anyway...

I bought a lot of books. I bet there are at least 50 to 75 books in there and since I don't read all of those are going to eBay. There are some music books, some assorted mags and some novels. Also, a handful of self motivational stuff. If there are any specific titles you guys might be interested in, lemme know and I will see if I have it.

Glass. I scored a ton of glass. Coffee mugs, pitchers, a few pint glasses and a few nice serving trays for pies or cakes or whatever. I also got some nice China - maybe 7 or 8 "toy" cup and saucer sets. Looks like collectable stuff to me, but what the hell do I know? There is also plates and glasses - regular housewares stuff, nothing crazy but a good score for the yard sale we are having in two weeks ourselves. The cups and saucers are on eBay right now - we'll see what happens. If you guys find them, lemme know what you think.

There was a HUGE computer desk tucked into the corner of one of the bedrooms because, well, its a corner desk - makes sense. The thing is big, I don't know if I mentioned that earlier...It is sitting next to a decent computer chair and one of those mats that you would lay down for the chair to roll on - rather than mashing it though the carpet. The desk and chair have some wear, but nothing to keep it from not being sold. I have seen worse. The guy starts the bidding at 50$ but eventually settled on a 5$ starting bid. Right up my alley. I raise my hand and 5 seconds later- "SOLD" to the butt plug wearing the Jets cap.

This went on for 2 hours - it was also hot, humid and sunny so people were eager to move along. Once I bid on (and won) the ice cream maker I was done. I was low on cash and just didn't feel like running to the ATM for the cash to make another unnecessary purchase.

Some more notables:

3 fairly decent lamps with shades
1 Memorex stereo/cassette/CD/Radio player boom box
Assorted Candles and candle holders
Fishing Rod and Reel - mostly lower end junk - not catching Jaws or anything
Croquet set
13 inch TV with built in VCR combo
Board games
Couple of shelves to hang on the wall (one is small and kinda meh - hold a few pics maybe, has a couple small drawers), the other is a nice 6 foot long bookshelf - heavy duty, decorative)
A few assorted pics
Drinking mugs
Assorted Glassware - full sets for seating up to 8. Dishes, plates, platters, salad bowls etc etc...
I also nabbed this fur thing. I don't know if it is real or not. No tag, but Google says not all of them will have a tag. No sleeves either, so maybe it is a shawl - I dunno, will be founding out in the future. The other clothing has already been dropped off at the goodwill joint up the street.

I will toss up some assorted pics as I get them.

A bed for the spare bedroom. So boring I can't be arsed to find a picture of one.

Rest of my cash is generally going to my wedding or grown up stuff.

Come visit sunny Austria!

As for what I have just bought, I got a sweet coat for a song from another forum. Picked it up today. Can't be bothered taking a pic, but its a very classical cut and looks great.

Not posting pics as none of you care, but I've had loads of purchases recently.

Paint, wallpaper, a pram, a cot, feeding bottles, car seat, clothes, fucking blankets, fucking nappies, fucking baby, baby, BABY.

Sheesh, it's almost as bad as organising a wedding, i.e. you just have to drive the missus about to a lot of different shops & not make any decisions/opinions ;) (right Slacks)

At least when we go out for a drink I can get hammerred & Mrs. Junior drives me home, my own personal taxi driver for 7 months now, that part's pretty cool.

I felt bit silly when I realised that it isn't actually dark here at night until august. Well it will be "handy" later.
