Still not right. You need to add 3 zeros to that number. Probably 4 zeros if we could count the people infected in November through January and got over it.

Anyhoo - somehow the US has less dead people than France who has 25% of the US population and supposedly the #1 health care system in the world.

How does that work?

It’s not when the first case was discovered; it’s how you respond plus how much of a social animal that person is.

That just makes France and Western Europe look even worse.

Yes, yes they were.

You may want to start boning up on the differences in behaviour between the French and U.S. Healthcare Systems, and the assistance provided both by their respective governments, in the Time since both nations discovered their first cases.

Like Mullet says: it's all about how you respond.

(Or don't respond, as the case may be...)

The reason why nobody really gives a fuck at which human food market on the Planet this virus made the jump, is because the virus itself isn't really the issue.

98% (give-or-take) of humans who get infected with it, recover fully, with no lasting effects.

So what's the Big Deal?

Well, it's that 2% of 7.7 billion people, is quite a lot of people. 150 million, or thereabouts.

150 million people are likely going to die in the next 6 - 12 months.

And they're not going to die because of the virus. They're going to die because they won't be able to access the medical facilities and expertise they need to help them through it.

So wherever access to the treatment for respiratory failure is not available, there will be a lot of bodies.

Politicians are going to have to be explaining why they thought spending unlimited amounts on "National Security", was much more important than spending just a fraction of that on Public Healthcare.

Do you see the approaching Storm now Foota?

According to your chart, France only has 29,000 confirmed cases - but are pushing a 6% death rate.

Are the French really that unhealthy - or is the "#1 healthcare system in the world" just not up to the job?

Also - who believes China's numbers?

I see a storm for Europe and the EU for sure.

They have been under-funding their national defense for half a century while they brag about their "superior" healthcare system.

Countries like Italy are going to have to rethink their "one belt one road" trade policies with China too.

Everybody with a brain in their head should be questioning whether China's numbers are accurate. Totalitarian regimes are never to be trusted, even when they're being honest. Given China engaged in a cover up once over this, it's safe to say they're probably lying their arses off.

Do you? Do you even know what some of the things you spout off about are? Because lately you've demonstrated some rather bizarre definitions for things. Somehow an unemployment insurance program in the UK as a response to this is a Universal Guaranteed Income, somehow an authoritarian lockdown is socialist, somehow the hamfisted actions of government are a failing of capitalism.

It just doesn't add up to you understanding anything.

Are we still comparing infection/mortality numbers when I have already pointed out the fallacies of doing so?

China kicked out reporters from 3 major US newspapers last week and now they are banning all foreigners from entering the country.

But yeah - I am sure they got this shit locked down and have no new cases.

No - I am only comparing mortality numbers to population size.

Those are the only 2 numbers we know for certain.

I am of the belief that way more people got infected then our testing has confirmed. The vast majority had no major health issues and recovered.

So the only thing we can really examine is how each country's healthcare system is treating the sickest coronavirus patients and preventing death.

As HM pointed out, much of Western Europe is struggling to keep people alive due to a lack of healthcare resources.

You two are going to have to Break Programming soon you know.

Everything you thought you knew about anything, you need to put behind you.

This event is like a very slow tsunami. And I know I keep banging on about it, but the real hit from the actual Wave will occur when everyone realises the Economy is completely fucked.

I think we may be looking at the U.S. defaulting on its sovereign debt, within 4 - 6 weeks. Possibly sooner.

Last time I looked, the U.S. was paying $33 billion a day in interest payments, servicing its National Debt. That's $33 billion a day that mostly goes towards pensioners' income around the World.

A U.S. Sovereign Debt default would/will be the coup de grace for U.S./Neoliberal Capitalism.

The U.S. is going to be a Banana Republic before this year is out. And will probably cease to exist as we know it, within a year or two. With the obviously stronger states seceding unilaterally or in blocs.

It's been the laughing stock of the World since Donald Trump fell through the cracks in the U.S. Political Establishment, into the Oval Office.

Now, Farce will turn to Tragedy, and we'll all stop laughing.

Statistically, there is a fair chance that 5 million Americans who are currently alive, will be dead before this year is out. Because they contracted the coronavirus, got into difficulties, and were unable to receive the medical treatment they needed to survive.

Maybe more, maybe less.

3,000 people died on 9/11/01. 53,000 U.S. troops were killed in South East Asia between 1965 and 1975. Just under half-a-million Americans died fighting in WWII.

Now, slowly, predictably, agonisingly, in their own, doubtlessly well-defended homes: somewhere in the region of around 5 million Americans are going to die, in front of the World's Eyes.

I imagine being Americans, many of them will LiveStream their deaths.

Deaths from Political Neglect and Economic Exploitation, remember.

Think: Hurricane Katrina, x1000.

You tell me how the United States of America survives that.

:-??

We also know their age and what underlying health issues they had, which are pretty key variables too.

Coronavirus: US overtakes China with most cases

Quote:
The US now has more confirmed cases of coronavirus than any other country with at least 82,404 positive tests.

According to the latest figures collated by Johns Hopkins University, the US overtook China (81,782 cases) and Italy (80,589).

The grim milestone came as President Donald Trump predicted the nation would get back to work "pretty quickly", after 3.3 million layoffs.

More than 1,100 people with Covid-19 have died in the US.

Well, that escalated quickly.

Yeah NY/NJ have over 7,000 new cases today; they are going to need a lot of refrigerated trucks.

Spain is now worse than Italy for new cases.

We're all fucked to be honest.

I bet New Orleans regrets having Marti Gras right about now
It's about to get bad there

New Orleans can't survive economically without holding Mardi Gras.

Cancelling Mardi Gras there, would be to economically cancel New Orleans.

Many businesses and workers subsist all year round, on what they can "harvest" during Mardi Gras.

This is probably one for SomeGuy to work out the prioritisation on.

SG?

Better to economically eliminate an entire city? Or allow a far greater number of them to die, in order to try and prolong an imperfect and moribund economic condition?

You have the Wisdom of Solomon, SG.

What is your Ruling?

^:)^
