British Columbia is testing for Covid-19 faster per head than South Korea, even at its peak

Of course people are going to file for temporary unemployment benefits in an unprecedented time like this. What does anyone expect when the government shut the entire country down preventing people from going to work? Most of these people have been paying taxes for years to help fund emergency benefits like this. So alot of them are simply getting money back they paid in taxes for years.

But....but....but.....HM is now telling us that having any level of safety net for emergencies is soooocialism!

Who knew America was such a Socialist country with our Medicaid, unemployment and disability welfare programs?

Are you *REALLY* going to take the line that the United States was a Socialist country all along?

That the U.S. had anything like a socialist safety-net before the Senate reluctantly approved $2 trillion last night to create one?

Oh man, your ability to accept and rationalise being fucked in the arse is going to be sorely tested in the coming days and weeks.

Gonna be fun to watch though!

Of course not.

Just pointing out the stupidity of equating once in a lifetime emergency measures as "Socialism".

Trump and the Federal government are not taking this opportunity to nationalize industries or instigating more centralized government. They are just trying to provide some relief for workers after the government shut down the country's economy. Granted if we had a Democrat in charge, they would be jumping at the opportunity to centralize power.

If anything, the Coronavirus has exposed the incompetency and inefficiencies of our Federal Health departments like the FDA and CDC with all of the needless regulation and red-tape screwing up the test kits and preventing the private sector from quickly manufacturing new masks and PPE. Individual States, private corporations, health centers and schools are picking up the ball and innovating with new ways of treating people using video and relying on the private sector to quickly 3-D print supplies.

The Coronavirus is forcing us to think about our big bloated and expensive government centralized run systems and find more efficient and nimble ways to manage crisis and our daily lives.

Good news for the UK.

Quote:
UK has enough intensive care units for coronavirus, expert predicts

The UK should now be able to cope with the spread of the covid-19 virus, according to one of the epidemiologists advising the government.

Neil Ferguson at Imperial College London gave evidence today to the UK’s parliamentary select committee on science and technology as part of an inquiry into the nation’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.

He said that expected increases in National Health Service capacity and ongoing restrictions to people’s movements make him “reasonably confident” the health service can cope when the predicted peak of the epidemic arrives in two or three weeks. UK deaths from the disease are now unlikely to exceed 20,000, he said, and could be much lower.

The need for intensive care beds will get very close to capacity in some areas, but won’t be breached at a national level, said Ferguson. The projections are based on computer simulations of the virus spreading, which take into account the properties of the virus, the reduced transmission between people asked to stay at home and the capacity of hospitals, particularly intensive care units.

Keep in mind Neil Ferguson last week was predicting half a million Wuhan Flu deaths in the UK and the need for 18 month quarantine.

Now a week later - never mind - this thing will burn out in 3 weeks.

I know how that works:

Privatise when profitable; Socialise when not.

Your Government has spent the last half-century demonising socialism, and as soon as the shit hits the fan, your Government socialises its entire Economy.

What happened to "Market Forces"? What happened to letting Private Enterprise save the day?

When you nationalise your workforce and nationalise your entire Economic Sector's debts, and (soon) nationalise the Healthcare Infrastructure you've been telling everyone works "Just great!" when run for-Profit...

How is that not turning your Nation Socialist?

When Cuban and Chinese medical teams start arriving in the U.S. next month, will you accept then that Capitalism has died?

Reached out to someone I know who I believe is a surgical nurse/OR nurse, about what's going on at their hospital.

"The hospital is doing well enough for now. We have a few cases, most are rule outs as we wait for results. The hospital is running low on masks, but we try to use them only when needed. Some positives have done well enough that they could be sent home to self isolate and continue to recover. I think we had one death, or at least the city of Long Beach had a death, not sure if it was at our hospital.

Hospital staff are scared, but optimistic. It helps to enjoy the people you work with and to have a good team. A few of my coworkers have needed to quarantine themselves for possible exposure, but none have shown symptoms. One day at a time."

So for what it's worth that was the reply

G-7 failed to agree on statement after U.S. insisted on calling coronavirus outbreak 'Wuhan virus'

This is middle school bully behaviour.

G7 still gobbling China's cock and changing the rules how we have named pandemic viruses in the past based on the original outbreak location?

Nice to see our "experts" are putting Political Correctness in front of science.

Might as well call it the Murrica Virus at this point since that's where most of the cases in the world are now.

Maybe they can find a middle ground and call it by it's proper name "The Kung Flu".

Yes - it is pathetic that the G7 (along with the WHO) are carrying Communist China's water. People are dying because they don't want to upset the poor darlings.

Won't be long before they are all aping China's propaganda that the Wuhan Virus was created by America (and the jooos?) and purposefully spread in China.

So wait...

SARS - Severe acute respiratory syndrome - Started in China
MERS - Middle East Respiratory Syndrome - Started somewhere in the middle east.
Ebola - named after a river
Zika - forest in Uganda
Corona Virus - ....China.

...is that how we name shit based on location? Doesn't seem to be consistent. I mean Wuhan is a place not a race...Why the fuck not call it the Wuhan Flu?
